Happy 23rd Birthday, my love!

Over the past few years, you’ve asked me in different ways to tell you about you when you were younger. I admit, I haven’t done such a great job of that. My memory is stacked with my own complex experiences as a teen parent, among other things we’ve already discussed that I won’t get into here. At long last, I’ve finally figured out how to convert some old tapes into a digital format that you can access. You have no idea… It seems the timing is great, though, as we’ve been having increasingly deep and revealing conversations in the last few years.

So, your gift, dear Baphiwe, is this website where I’ll upload a new video from your childhood every day until they’re all here. We can watch them together or on your own. Whatever you’d like. Though I haven’t watched any to completion, the bits I’ve seen are full of your cuteness, wisdom, patience, brilliance, creativity, and all the things I continue to love about who you are (becoming). There’s also plenty cringeworthy embarrassing things in here as well. I’ve chosen to leave it intact so you can have a fuller picture of what I’ve unsuccessfully been able to tell you.
